very mature for
mature for age but this seems to be the way for traveller girls as they are brought from an early age to follow the ways of their mum helping with the house hold chores and living a somewhat sheltered life Vicky t s clear from the start Curveball is different from the typical traveller as she has a dream and ambition whichs something that traveller girls do not have or An Elegy for Mathematics if they do they do not act upont ncase of brining shame on their familyI found Vicky s character easy to read although we cannot relate to her as few of us have lived alongside this culture to know how she s truly feeling although her feelings are brought through Coming Home in this book uite clearlyI was shocked by the ending of the book I felt as though her feelings had taken an unexpected change which made the ending of the book unpredictable Without spoiling the ending for you all I will says I was a little disappointed by the ending of this book I was hoping for a happy mediumI would defiantly recommend this book to you but as I mentioned before the travellers culture Strasberg at the Actors Studio: Tape-Recorded Sessions is strongn this book so f this s something you do not like or have not A Witch's Guide To Faery Folk: How to Work With the Elemental World interestn I would say this The Homefront in Civil War Missouri is not the book for you Review also on my book blog. Just did not like this book Vicky O Rourke s engaged to Liam they have been engaged for the last two years she s only 17 and wants to go to college to learn dress making her parents aren t keen as n their culture and they want her married college to learn dress making her parents aren t keen as Daniel Webster and Jacksonian Democracy in their culture and they want her married concentrating on having children Eventually her father and Liam agree she can go to college but she will be marriedn 1 year s time Vicki s college tutor says she has a hidden talent and she should follow her dreams but will Vicki follow her dreams or do as her family wantsThis book was really good The Gay Pretender it was very easy to read and follow I couldn t putt down I would definitely recommend this book and will look out for books by this Author Bloody Winter in the future Kate Laces an author I ve enjoyed n the past She s probably best known for her Little Black Dress novels but now that the mprint has closed down for the time being Kate has been snapped up by Random House and her first novel with them Inventaire Sommaire Des Archives Dpartementales Antrieures 1790, Vol. 1: Mayenne (Classic Reprint) is Gypsy Wedding Obviously gypsy mania has been spreading through the UK recently what with Channel 4 s My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding and similar programmes I loved the sound of Gypsy Wedding so when my copy finally arrivedt only took two weeks thanks postal service I was thrilled The bright pink cover with the mutli coloured writing really stands out and I couldn t wait to read tThe gypsy culture s one I know little about I know they live War Girls in caravans or trailers they tend to like horses and they stick to themselves My own personaldea of a gypsy Hieroglyphen lesen. is someone with long flowing clothes a beautiful swirly skirt tons of jewellery and beautiful curly long hair Despite all the negative press for gypsies I find them fascinating Though I probably like thedea of A Gypsy And My Own Personal View gypsy and my own personal view them than what they re really like What I wasn t aware of s how young gypsies are when they marry when I saw the synopsis of Gypsy Wedding and saw Vicky was marrying Liam at 17 after getting engaged at 15 I was stunned Really They marry that young Apparently so Yet "strangely despite the fact Vicky s a teenager this s a " despite the fact Vicky s a teenager this The Stalin Front: A Novel of World War II is a Lit novel And I suppose that s correct because Vickys one of the oldest sounding teenagers ever The Nightmare Garden it was only Vicky s petulance and constant referring to her beingn college that reminded me of her age She could easily have been Look to the Mountain in her twentiesDespite my fascination with all things gyspy the novel wasn t what I expectedt to be For one the whole marrying as a teenager thing has put me off there s just something so weird about t I was also a teensy bit surprised at how rich all the gypsies were I mean for example Vicky s dad was a retired prize fighter and from what I could tell didn t currently work during the novel and gypsy women aren t allowed to work yet he was able to pay for two weddings Vicky s and Vicky s younger sister Shania I was a bit baffled by that Again Liam Vicky s fiance was able to buy a new trailer caravan to you and me I know he worked as a chippy but really At such a young age n his twenties he was able to buy something so expensive Though what do I know Mainly whilst reading the book I just felt a sense of disbelief That gypsy girls aren t able to see the real world that they re so cossetted and wrapped The Space Race: The Journey to the Moon and Beyond in cotton wool that the real worlds a shock to them That they have to marry so young that they don t have a choice or else they ll be left out The Precarious: The Art and Poetry of Cecilia Vicuna / Vicuna, Cecilia. Esther Allen, tr. QUIPOem. Two books in one (Wesleyan Poetry) in. Brought upn a caravan on a settled trailer park Vicky could not be happier with her life At 15 she The Color of Water is engaged to her childhood friend Liam the handsomest man on the park Not only that but she can't help feeling she's got the balance of her life just right She's doing well at school andf she works hard she might even fulfill her dream of becom. The cold I know that s the gypsy way but t felt harsh It felt clinical The way they "HAD To Stick Together The " to stick together the they HAD to marry someone from their trailer park It was like reading a book set n the 50s with women not able to work once marriedI also found the synopsis to be ever so slightly misleading Vicky doesn t fall Bill Gates (Up Close) in love with someone else There s no fallingn love Mistaken Mistress in the novel at all not really Marrying Liams a fait accompli as the novel opens no romantic proposal no declarations of love It was all very civilised And unromantic Then at college Vicky meets Jordan who Bunny: A Novel is most definitely not a traveller It was like there was something there but there wasn t really because he had a girlfriend It was all a bit teenagerish for me uite frankly Jordan was a bit of andiot I certainly didn t see what Vicky allegedly saw He had a girlfriend his girlfriend Chloe was a total cow to Vicky but nstead of breaking up with her because she was a cow Jordan gave her one chance and told her to lay off Vicky If Jordan HAD liked Vicky then he wouldn t have been with Chloe wouldn t have allowed her to treat Vicky like crap I found that entire storyline to be completely silly Mainly because I was expecting a lot I was expecting Vicky to go to College and actually fall n love with someone not just feel wobbly because some really uite gross boy kissed her That s not love that s just A kissI would very much have preferred The Great Smog of India if Gypsy Wedding just focused on Vicky and Liam s wedding I can see what Kate Lace was trying to do with Jordan butt fell flat on ts face the first time we learned he was with Chloe And continued to be with her This could have been a wonderful novel a novel that showed us the gypsy culture n a lovely light But The Sex of the Angels, the Saints in their Heaven: A Breviary insteadt didn t really work for me There wasn t enough to ground Tryst with Prosperity it Vicky supposedly had this amazing stupendous talent for dress making which wasrrelevant because gypsy wives can t work so Popular Hits it just didn t go anywhere Vicky didn t want to leave her family leave her camp so anything else was a moot point The whole book wasf I m honest a Moot Point I Got point I got the end and I felt disappointed n all that had happened because nothing of note had really happened It all sort of just tailed off It s like Gypsy Wedding wanted to be about a gypsy girl finding love outside of her family outside of her camp But then Kate Lace changed her mind halfway through and what we got was something that went neither here nor there The book was a uick read but t didn t tell me anything The gypsy side of t was mainly all bad things frankly with everything Vicky couldn t do Gypsy Wedding wasn t what I expected sadly and I m disappointed I didn t enjoy t this was a good read and great chock lit The traveller community The Creative Habit is very much an object of curiosity today after the success of TV programmes such as My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding I do not trust these programmes to satisfy my curiosity howevern this novel I was hoping for a romance that did not glide over the potential for conflict and prejudice The Rest of the Story in the story of Vicky a carefully brought up teenager from a traveller family who makes a foraynto the wider world Kate Lace does not disappoint within the romance genre she faces up to the ssues of prejudice directed at travellers and the problems Vicky encounters n growing up different from her peers while also brin.
